Mapping the Future by Safeguarding the Past

Kent Coastal Week 2012 'Historic Coast'

Forgotten Frontline Cartoon Workshop

As part of Kent Coastal Week on Saturday 27th October 2012, Mark Harrison (Timescapes) and Dave Chisholm held a cartoon workshop incorporating the Forgotten Frontline exhbition and work from Mapping Kent at Whitstable Castle.

As part of the ‘Forgotten Frontline’ Project there was also an unveiling a fantastic reconstruction of how Tankerton prepared for invasion in 1940. The reconstruction, drawn by artist Dave Chisholm, draws upon the work undertaken as part of the ‘Forgotten Frontline Project’ including:

  • Aerial imagery by Mapping Kent
  • Oral histories of residents and service personnel
  • Photographs and documentation held by local families, including a map of the area drawn by Town Surveyor Eric Uden
